These are work in progress photos of one of the minis that I am working on. He is called Jarl the Giantslayer from Red Box Games (one of my favorite sculptors). This is also my first time using a socket to mount my miniature. the socket is a cut piece of wood that I sanded up and burnt in the area that slopes down in a look of crumbling rock (or so I hope! haha!) I am afraid that my current camera is taking poor photos, I hope that you can still appreciate the mini as I do.
This first photo is a shot of one of the spears that are in the tiled floor around Jarl. The spider webs were made using a technique that I found out about from
Massive Voodoo. I mixed in a little bit of off-white Valejo paint, and let the glue dry for about 30-45 seconds, maybe a little less actually. If you attempt this technique, your results may vary depending on the temperature and moisture in the room you paint in. Make sure to test it first on something else!
There is the entire piece on my work desk. Jarl, standing among some ancient ruins, a broken floor, spears, and blood? Looks like there was a battle here! I am not sure what prompted me to do the blood on the floor, but i think that it looks much better than nothing at all, don't you?
Again, the hero of this piece, in all his dwarven power! dwarfen...dwarven...dwarfish...whatever.
This is a shot of a book that lays upside down on the floor. It is also made from a tutorial in massive voodoo.
One of my favorite parts of the painting here: his shield! I thought up the design, and freehanded it.
And another close up of that book.
This mini is still in the creation stage, but it is almost finished. I think that some lines need to be touched up and sharpened. Soon I will post pictures of the finished model in a better photo setting!
